        May singing; short background info

A custom dating back to the Middle Ages. In southern Sweden,it has been a tradition that starts off the summer, when on Valborg night, people sing and beg for eggs and money. But there are traces that indicate aconnection with the Middle Ages and Catholicism.

        Let's go walking together
        Walking on the forest road
The road where the slaves have walked
        The road where forefathers went
What is left in the footsteps?
Gold is left in the footsteps
Who was the crazy one to pick up the gold?
I was the one, who picked up the gold
        I put it to grow
It grew a month and it grew two
And grew a day or two
And then it became a woman

        (traditional song from Estonia)

      • Our hearts stand with Ukraine!

The aggression on Ukraine has created worries for friends in Ukraine, but also worries for the risk of being countries with borders towards Russia. Having a history of being locked into the Soviet Union, fighting for freedom and sovereignty as countries, but most of all the freedom of speech and interactivity as people and cultures.

The Kuldrum project is about how cultures in countries around the Baltic Sea connect through traditional storytelling, through common story themes that have been built and evolved through centuries, even millenaries, in people's lives. Russia is of course also a part of this culture evolvement, as the folk tradition goes beyond national borders and men in power.
